Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the triangle backup method?
The triangle represents a mathematical model that calculates the distance required to ensure that catastrophic events such as tornados, hurricanes or earthquakes could never hit all three data storage sites simultaneously.  It has proven its worth thousands of times in many industries throughout the world.
  • Where does the data live?
Thin-nology maintains secure servers in offices in Round Rock and San Antonio, Texas. Employing the triangle backup method, two server facilities are located on separate power grids for ultimate security against natural disaster or catastrophic data loss due to power outage or battery backup failure. Data is stored for a year at both locations and then saved to tape in a fireproof vault or returned at the customer's request.
  • What is encryption?
Encryption is a special set of algorithms that achieves both the scrambling and the restructuring of data. All the data moved from your computer to the Thin-nology' servers is encrypted, before it leaves your computer, in a manner that actually surpasses the standards employed by the US government. Only you can view your data unless you allow someone to use the special encryption key that you privately set and maintain.
